Tom Cullen, Vice President

I have been involved in education for 39 years as a classroom teacher, coach, athletic director and administrator. My calling to the field of education came at a young age and was influenced by family members, as well as excellent teachers and coaches who modeled the values of hard work and service. My desire was always to work in a field where I could invest in and make a positive difference in the lives of  young people.

After completing a B.S. degree at Liberty University, I began my journey in education. I went on to complete degrees from Indiana State University in Sports Administration and Indiana University Southeast in Secondary Administration. After 12 years of teaching in the classroom and coaching, I transitioned into the role of Assistant Principal where I served for 26 years, while also serving as Athletic Director for 27 years, both at the middle school level. During my time in these roles, I was honored to receive state recognition for both positions, IIAAA District Five Middle School/Junior High Athletic Director of the Year in 2008 and 2011, IIAAA State Middle School/Junior High Athletic Director of the Year and IASP District 12 and State Secondary Assistant Principal of the Year in 2013. I have worked in both private and public education.

My wife Diane and I have raised five wonderful children who all live and work in the state of Indiana. I am currently retired from education. I enjoy traveling as well as helping others with projects or needs. I am a member of Southeast Christian Church and a member of the local Floyd County chapter of the Gideons International.

I am honored to be on the EIA board and look forward to seeing what God has in store for the Academy and athletics program.
